Academic Intervention Services - Additional instruction intended to assist students who are at risk of not achieving the State learning standards in English language arts, mathematics, social studies and/or science. Bilingual Education/Foreign Language Studies - State assessment information, learning standards, resource guides and frequently asked questions pertaining to limited English proficiency (LEP) students. College Resources - Information on admission, financial aid, choosing a college, and more. Curriculum Resources - Public and proprietary sources of curriculum material and resources. Educational Television/Public Broadcasting - New York State public radio stations listings, public broadcasting links, broadcasting schedules and more. GED Testing Office - Information about eligibility requirements, GED testing schedules, transcript/diploma requests, and much more. General Resources - For students of all ages including homework help, help with specific subject areas, and more. Library, Museum & Archive Resources - USNY resources, search engines, and references on the web. New York State Learning Standards - Learning Standards, Assessments and Resources in seven Core Subject Areas, and the Learning Standards and Alternate Performance Indicators for students with severe disabilities. New York State Regents Exams - Previous exams and answers on the web. New York State Summer School of the Arts - Information about Summer residential programs for New York State high school students which provide intensive pre-professional training with internationally acclaimed artists and artistic companies. No Child Left Behind (NCLB) - General and program-specific information. Virtual Learning System (VLS) - An enhanced version of VLS is now available. Users will find a new interface and navigation scheme as well as other features, such as learning standards content for English as a Second Language and Social Studies; hundreds of Marco Polo lesson plans mapped to State learning standards; an enhanced search engine; and links to resources from other educational institutions such as the Office of Higher Education, the Public Broadcasting System, the State Library and the State Archives. We expect to add additional content and links to VLS on a continuous basis. Comments and suggestions may be sent to the Department via the website.
